A tshirt for anyone from Scotland or who has Scottish connections or who simply loves Scotland. The design is an ilustration of the Scottish thistle, the national flower of Scotland. The prickly purple flower was first chosen as the national emblem in the 13th Century during the reign of Alexander III after marauding Norsemen embarked on a failed attempt to loot the seaside town of Largs on the Ayrshire coast. One of the Vikings removed his footwear to creep up on the unsuspecting clansmen who were alerted to the enemy’s presence when the man yelped out in pain after stepping on a jaggy thistle! The Scots sent them packing! The thistle first appeared on silver coins in 1470.
