Raised on a diet of Doctor Who, Tolkien, Dungeons & Dragons and comic books, Simon Sherry has been making monsters from the moment he could put a crayon to a flat surface. Combining elements of post-apocalyptic science-fantasy, post-human horror and a black sense of humour; Simon’s work is preoccupied with notions of humankind’s ability to determine the course of its own fate in the face of forces larger than itself.

This has an awesome tone to it. The dress itself is very cool.

  • Thanks Mike – I wanted to try and bring a more textural element to this one, and now I’m tempted to use this on the rest when it comes to the print/card versions.

An experiment thats worked a treat mate – a lovely combination of comic art and painterly intervention. Very cool indeed Si, well impressed.

  • Many thanks for the kind words, Steve – hopefully you’ll see more of this in the future.

Love it Si. Really very cool indeed. The pose is superb : )

  • Thanks Jim – she just kind of fell out of some scribbles the other day, and I thin the looseness of that helped keep it dynamic.

Awesome! Did u use Illustrator, Photoshop? Looks so nice and crisp! :D

  • I normally draw the figure in Illustrator, then drop it in to Photoshop to do any added effects (such as the flames in her dress). By placing the illustrator image as a vector smart object, I get to make nice clean selections using the vectors as opposed to the rasterized version (does that make sense?) Really need to do a tute on my techniques – if there’s any interest, that is.

Oh man, loving this Simon. Liking the slightly new direction this has taken but obviously still sits neatly in your awesome deck!
Glad you put the detail up too – it begs for closer inspection!

  • Thanks Pete – I think I’ll end up bringing some of this into the print/card version of the set once the tees are all done. Once thing I’ve learnt with projects like this is that my style ‘mutates’ along the way – keeps it interesting ;o)
