About Simon Sherry

Raised on a diet of Doctor Who, Tolkien, Dungeons & Dragons and comic books, Simon Sherry has been making monsters from the moment he could put a crayon to a flat surface. Combining elements of post-apocalyptic science-fantasy, post-human horror and a black sense of humour; Simon’s work is preoccupied with notions of humankind’s ability to determine the course of its own fate in the face of forces larger than itself.

you must be going threw a hard path with your dad… all the best

  • Thanks – this is a bit of a personal work, and reflects my relationship with my father to an extent. I don’t think it’s an unusual scenario when a parent and child don’t see eye to eye on the paths that they should travel down. I guess that the Daedelus/Icarus story has always had a bit of a double meaning for me (equal parts ‘listen to your elders if you know what’s good for you’ and ’don’t let your elders’ own fears and anxieties hold you back from striving for the, in their eyes, unattainable’).

Not sure if that was articulated too well (should just shut up and let the pictures do the talking!), but there you go.

Cheers, and thanks to Oran and David Owens for the kind words.

Thanks for the kind words, and sorry I didn’t reply sooner :o) I’ve since started using this image as the key to my own personal ‘re-branding’, particularly due to it’s personal aspect.

I’ve got a couple of other mythological pieces in the pipeline that will be stylistically similar to this, so stay tuned…
