5/10 LIMBO

5/10 LIMBO

This is for a RedBubble contest called HAPPY They ask for a 16:9 format, 1920×1080 pixels. Vector self-portrait.

My happiness rating from 1 – 10: 5 – happy to be a mother and artist, but unhappy that I’ve gone through the toughest time in my life to get to this point, without the man I love by my side.

Update 5th Sep 09: Thank you to RedBubble for the front page feature of this work! So wonderful!

This is really beautiful, are you painting or is this vector art? I gave myself a 5.5 because the glass is always half full, but right now not by much!

  • SimoneYvette replied

This is vector. I can paint, but I’m too limited on time (or too lazy), so hopping on to the computer is much easier for me. There are many times when I wish I could create a painting as easily as vector (I always wish I for a delete button when painting!)
But yes, I ahve days when I’m 10 out of 10 happy, but I thought I’d be honest with this project and say that sometimes it’s great, and sometimes not so great, so a ‘happy’ mid point I sit!

Thank you! I hope your cup if always half full if not full!

I majored in painting at art school, doing outrageous surreal watercolor illustrations, and impressionistic landscapes. Computer changed all that, I still draw a lot though, and my 3D landscapes put you in an actual space with mountains to mold like clay, moving the sun around is a powerful feeling too. I was more towards 10 until getting tossed out of corporate career by down-sizing very recently, but as a glass half-full guy, notice it’s still 5.5!

Great Frontpage feature…well done…maybe it’s the whole ambivalence that makes this image so engaging. Great work.
