an old work on paper –
Queen Bee
ink, spray enamel and acrylic on paper on board
2004

from the series titled
‘Psychobabble’

the body of work was inspired by a series of writings
of the same name from 2002

“…TURN THE LIGHTS OUT…it’s too bright in here…the lines under my eyes are as obvious as the creases in my shirt today….my finger still hurts…poor right index….my left index has suffered an injury too…I accidentally cut it with a knife yesterday…reminded me of a Sylvia Plath poem…my fingertip DID become an onion…CRY, CRY, CRY…swallowing my tears in my ears as I cry over you…my ears are ringing…silence…SILENCE is deafening…NOT GOLDEN…sunshine is golden…on my shoulder….on the water…WATER…I must drink more water…one whiskey…one water…and so on….BAR FLY…they call me the bar BEE… QUEEN BEE…with my bar tan…buzz BUZZ……..with my head on the bar..I look up at you..through a whiskey glass..can’t remember how I got here..don’t wanna know how I’m gonna get home…”

(excerpt from ‘Beautiful losers and a whole lot of f***ing ramble’ – Psychobabble series – 2002)
