Sojourning

Gods and servants
Take this pain away
Alone, unparalleled,
I watch my flesh and blood
Shadow the seconds and days away.

Thankyou for the useless crown …
I am the consummate sum
Of my child’s afflictions …
More haunted by what could be.

Thoughts arise, crash, I fall
My hopeful heart is shattered
And somehow resurrected most dawns.
Unintentionally
You swing the axe so masterly,
Your sacred  human judgements echo
Behind my stoic smile, where your thoughts maul.
Undoubtedly my child’s tiny steps are his monumental journey.
