The Handheld Mirror
Written for the Compassion group.
The Handheld Mirror belongs to the following groups:
Compassion, Courage & Friendship and The Healing Journeycurling the dry, meshed tips of fingers reduced
to the necessity of remembering
the impression of circles caressed,
the seduction and arrest,
the stupor of youth and its whirligig sheen.
of quiet moments when thoughts shared
didn’t really matter at all …
Pristine youth never looks the other way.
clever, wishful muddles and huddles seize countless candles
and the hunt for experience is fair game
An unsheltered room can not bear the blow out
of passion and vigour,
arms of exploration and destruction and entertainment
each one has a name.
And she knows all her lovers
are stationed far away,
And her friends still reach through the hollow walls,
but when she thrusts the bandit in her face
wounded by the hurtful crossing of trickish time,
she prises up the elegant handheld mirror reflecting on
the scythe cutting down a hundred dancing willow leaves
while grace abides silently
juice
