Well Mum this little ode, sonnet or song,
Is sent to you from number two son!
At your request I sit here writing this,
And hope it brings you laughter!
It’s hard some times to find the words,
As some of them sound dafter!
But when I put my mind to work it brings it into line,
The happy years we shared are of memories, yours and mine!
This Ode, this Sonnet, this Song is just about you,
Oh and not forgetting Dad too!
Our lives we shared had loads of love,
As we were a family through and through,
There is a sad time during this period,
Where we both lost a friend, and that was Dad.
I was fortunate to have worked with him (Sam) and to have had him as a mate!
I can also visualize him at No. 9 standing there at the gate!
You only have one chance in this world of ours to bring our children up,
You both did a brilliant job as I gained most of your knowledge!
I love you Mum with all my heart and I treasure you today!
As we both know time is short in this old world so these words I have to say!
So thank you Mum, you’re the best Mum you are OK!
I very often wonder what this life is all about,
And it doesn’t help when we scream and shout!
There are lots of horrid things in this old world,
That you kept at bay,
You made me feel safe when I was vulnerable,
Even in these times of today!
You are a caring loving Mum and a big friend too,
Never selfish and always concerned in my life even when you feel blue!
Whatever went wrong, you helped put right, and where ere you could!
I am much stronger now than I used to be and that is to the good!
Well young lady of 79 what a grand old age you are,
So here’s wishing you all my love and hope your remaining years are afar!
So God Bless you Mum I love you so,
Right deep here within my heart!
“Live Life For Today And Save A Smile For Somebody Tomorrow”
I wrote this for my Mum in 2003 it was her 85th birthday yesterday 20th Feb 2009 so I thought this might be a nice gesture for this writing to go public. I hope you like it and thank you for stopping by.
