I do not think children should aspire to become the next top supermodel. Yes, I do believe every child should be taught to believe in themselves, and to like who they are. I’ve watched the show, for the fact the creator of the show isn’t rail thin and is a very healthy looking woman. But have you seen the models on the show? If they are lucky, most of them weigh 100 lbs at over 5’8 which isn’t a very healthy look to aspire to.
Being a teenager is hard enough. Even being an adult is hard enough. We all worry about looks, and sadly society places even more pressure on us all. We are rated by looks or money , what we do for a living, and weight. And I’m actually a small person, but that is due to genetics. Not everyone else is. But with teens and younger children lets face it they can be cruel. Yes adults can be also, but adults tend to be more concealing about it. Face it , kids are mean most of the time. And especially if someone is over weight or “ugly”. My teenage son goes to school and works with a girl. My son came home from work telling me (and he was shocked also) how kids pick on this girl, some have even thrown rocks at her because she’s “ugly”! And my son just couldn’t understand it. He think she’s so cute, but because she’s quite and doesn’t really talk to people, she’s picked on.
My sister in law is over weight, but she’s one of the cutest woman. She’s so pretty, over weight and all. Being rail thin is not healthy. Starving one’s self isn’t heathy and most models, and I’m not saying all, normally wind up getting into serious drugs living that life style also. That isn’t something I’d like my teenage kids to get into. Being a supermodel requires long hours, barely eating, and a very hard life style of really not sleeping, always being out so your always noticed. It just really doesn’t seem worth it. Yes, it’s great money, you MIGHT be famous for a bit, you might meet famous people and you could over dose on cocaine or herein, wind up in rehab . And face it, what happens when your all used up and here comes some 13 yr old who looks 20 and takes that supermodels place, you become nothing again.
Just a point of view
