The Colors of Love

Midsummer afternoon, cloudy skies,
And we’re standing in the rain,
The taste of blueberries all around,
Hanging like hope in the air,
The sweet taste of love on blue days.
Kiss me, please, I whisper, and you do.

The sunset glow of evening,
Lavender on pale skin,
Rosy cheeks and warmest smile,
A gentle breeze caressing my cheek,
This kiss blown in from the sea.
Your lips on my cheek, so soft.

Blazing hot outside on this summer day,
And the sun hangs in its zenith in the sky.
The air smells of spices and exotic lands.
You swoop down and kiss me for no reason,
And I see red, like fire on my tongue,
The taste of unquenchable passion.

Staring out my window, smiling,
Watching each leaf’s fire-dance,
I hold your latest gift to me—
I hold it close, so close, to my heart.
As sweet as a lover’s kiss, it is,
This yellow rose for friendship.

Like magic, each flake of snow
Falling down to melt on our tongues.
Laughing, we walk arm-in-arm
In this sudden blizzard morning.
I’m falling, but you catch me with a kiss.
Your touch burns away the cold.

Hand-in-hand, fingers entwined,
Our souls are whispering secrets
As we walk down that garden path
In our new life, man and wife, together.
You stoop and pluck a daisy just for me.
And each petal says, He loves me.

That night, camping under the stars,
Their light reflected in your eyes,
Your skin soft as velvety black night,
We lie together, looking up at the heavens,
And the stars spell out eternity,
Just you and me under a blue moon.
