While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Inspired by the classic Beatle’s tune of the same name. I’ve always loved this song and have had this vision of a weeping guitar in my head for years before I attempted to photograph it. ~
I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it need sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don’t know why nobody told you
how to unfold you love
I don’t know how someone controlled you
they bought and sold you
I look at the world and I notice it’s turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don’t know how you were diverted
you were perverted too
I don’t know how you were inverted *
no one alerted you
I look at you all see the love there that’s sleeping*
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at you all
Still my guitar gently weeps
Oh, oh, oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
oh oh, oh oh, oh oh
Yeah yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah yeah yeah

Very clever use of DOF and stunning tones.

Thanks Stephen. I spend a fair amount of time at a recording studio doing my internet show (www.beavertalk.com), and musical instruments are one of my favourite things to photograph – particularily guitars. Cheers, S.

Gorgeous work!!

Thanks David. I had this vision in my head for the longest time and then I finally decided to see if I could get water drops to slide down the string of a guitar. Took lots of tries, but it finally worked out. Cheers, S.

Thanks so much David! Cheers, S.

This is very beautiful Sandra. Your selective use of DOF is wonderful. I love the soft look of the edges, which appear as a cloudy sky and the sharper focus on the pretty decorative patterns. It is lovely in this colour!
sigfusson replied
Thank you so much Sharon! Your thoughts are much appreciated. Cheers, S.

A truly fascinating image Sandra, are you a musician as well?
I have spent ages and been almost mesmerised while looking at how you photographed it and how much edition was done in the final presentation, I saw what appeared to be water droplets on the strings and after reading your reply above I see you had done just that, so creative and original and to an old Beatles fan, what better title,
Regards, Rod.
sigfusson replied
Hey Rod, well, actually there wasn’t a lot of post processing in this one. I converted it to b&w and then added the mauve tones, did a bit of sharpening and that’s pretty much it. As I mentioned, I had the vision of this shot in my head for ages, and have always loved that particular Beatles tune, so it was simply a matter of taking about 40 shots to get the water drops to cooperate! Thanks so much for your generous comment! I don’t play any instruments, just sing and write songs. One day I’ll get my producer Len to teach me a few chords on a guitar…now that’s a dangerous thought!!! Cheers, S.
