Merry Saturnalia by 

Saturnalia was an ancient Roman festival in honor of the deity Saturn originally held December 17 and later expanded with unofficial festivities through December 23.
When the Roman Empire turned Christian the celebrations of Christmas was set at a simular time of year to be in keeping with social norms. New religions oftern inherited some customes from old ones to encourage new believers to join up.
