The eye of the needle

One of the four Wentworth Follies – North of Rotherham, South Yorkshire , UK
Essentially it is a Stone Gateway in the form of a pyramid estimated to have been built in the mid 18th century.
Local Folklore has it that the second Marquis of Rockingham had it built to settle a wager that he “could ride a horse and carriage through the eye of a needle!”
At the time he was one of the richest men in England. It is thought there is reference to Christian gospel saying that it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God!

Its amazing what one will do to prove a point !

Yes Jesus said those words “It is easier for for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven”

All sorts of legends exist as to weather Jesus was refering literally to a camel and needle or to a gate into the city of Jerusalem.

Anyway, this looks like an interesting place to visit I shall have to make the effort to get down there with my camera. Well atken shot!
