Take care Be Creative, inspire and Be inspired (like me).
I know there is alot of talent here with photography, but it is handy to know and l always re-read stuff like this all the time and l have been interested in photography for nearly 20 years.
The focal length of a lens determines its angle of view, and also how much the subject will be magnified for a given photographic position. Focal length also determines the perspective of an image. Longer focal lengths require shorter exposure times to minimize burring caused by the shake of hands. The Focal Length means how much can your camera see.
If you use the stacking technique you can get full circles within a year if you stack your images from different seasons… No matter which direction. But if you want to acheive a true Star trail circle in one night you will need to point south for us in OZ. Also you would need to do a 3 to 4 hour exposure, your battery would be empty before your camera could take a shot. Unless you have one big Battery or a Generator.
So my trick is to take a a few photo’s and stack them together, this one shot took nearly 12 months.
