Totally absorbed in thoughts. Or better: in nothing!
    What is yours???

  • Thanks Gabriele, a friend of mine did come up with a rather entertaining title, or possible title for this particular piece, which i am not going to divulge now, but it wasnt till i photographed it i saw, as Shulie below has put it ‘suppressed anger’. Amazing how angry i can look when I am serious about something, this one makes me look like i am possibly in need of an anti psychotic of somekind?(LOL)!!!!!

I prefered your ‘nutter’ side Josh…

  • Ah, Agnes, that is a blessed relief that you’ve said that, because i thought this made me look more of a nutter than any of my other self portraits ive done in the past

I see a lot of suppressed anger

  • Cheers Shulie, thats what i see, i guess this is how i come across quite often, i was rather hoping that aspect of my aesthetic would abate by nearly 40, but it seems to be a permanent aspect of my appearance!!!!!!!!!!!LOL, maybe i should work in security somewhere?LOL

I love the quality of the marks/drawing… they are both integral and separate from the portrait… like they retain complete integrity ‘in and of themselves’… while joining to make the face ‘whole’…
For me, it feels like, if You carry it further (maybe You have by now!!…lol)… then it ‘maybe’ goes too far? (yet, there really is no such thing…cos when You stop, it is always done)

This is really BIG!!! HA! WOW!

  • Cheers Doreen, glad you read it that way, because thats certainly how the exercise started out, as something i could indulge in lots of frenetic mark making, hopefully congealing into a unified representation of myself. Yeh its reasonably big

    am I reading right ? 120 by 85 cm ?
and I see only No 13 and No 14 here … where is the rest ?
.. I prefer the No 14 to No 13 ..but to achieve something of a blend within those two could be interesting even more ….
.. the expression on your face in SPNo14 is very close to how I imagine you in your personality …

  • Yeh youre reading it right Anna, the size that is, and the rest are all on here(I think Ill make a section of SP on my homepage here. I think this ones a reasonably good representation of me today, even though its obviously got some disturbing aspects to it!!!!LOL Yeh a combination of both 13 and 14 would be ideal
