Beautiful work ! x
thanks Anna, greatly appreciated
i enjoy these so very much….i search for things to steal! amazing!
lol, thats precisely how I approach lots of your work too Loui, always appreciate comments from yourself mate
DIVINE…. oh you talented boy you! love that hand and the floating angelic composition – could see this on a church ceiling
Thanks Ellen, I have to say though, I would worry about any church with my work on it!!!!!!!LOL Also, I cannnot see myslef getting far past the theological rant about religion and confinement, ha ha ha!!! But i am glad you see something else in it apart from the obvious life study it is, cause the whole series was motivated by a common element, strangely enough partly partially inspired by some of the link I sent you yesterday(did you get a chance to watch Stanhope yet?)
they are getting ever better Josh … a serious stuff :).. hands details are so well done : do not take away from the whole yet add interest …
Cheers Anna, I was quite uncertain to be honest about this one, in fact the last two are stuck in my memory as a bit rushed, so its good to hear someone who can see improvements in them as they go, because i kind of felt like i was tailing off towards the end with them. Much appreciated Anna.
love the technique and detail
Much apprecited Thomas, I guess Ive done a few now, so i am getting the technique to a more polished effect
A wonderful set of paintings! Fantastic form, sensual use of your mediums, original concepts, and elegant compositions…..gosh Josh! you have got me waxing lyrical this morning! :-)
Cheers WoolleyWorld(I must get your name sometime?)thanks for all your comments, glad you can see the compositions and concepts i was playing with in this series, when Ive shown, or people have seen these here in ole blighty, they tend to get the conservative crowd abit…….. well…, one eye brow raised,LOL!!!!! Greatly appreciated WoolleyWorld
haven’t had a chance yet – as have been busy with new motherhood – they just let me go home after an intense ordeal – 39 hour labour, surgery, bloodtransfusion – I AM NOW OFFICIALLY THE CHUCK NORRIS OF CHILDBIRTH! No wonder I had some complication – heavy weight lil ‘Avalon Violet’ weighed in at a whopping 9.8 pounds! fatty! lol
by the way – am far from Duelist in my spiritual thinking – r.e. churches – but I figure if there is a Rothko decor church I am open to the idea – only if I get a shiny robe, adoration and the collection plate…. lol
CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh theres a bit in that stand up about childbirth, I think you’re going to relate to it somehow!!!!!!!LOL Fair play Ellen, sounds like a marathon amount of time to be in pain, congrats again.Yeh Rothkos got work in a church in Texas hasnt he, and any relating to Rothko I’ll gladly take!!!!LOLHowever, I dont know about the robe/collection bit though, i think i can cater for a communion wafer tho?LOL!!!!!!!!!
I have looked at this one a few times now and didn’t know what was bothering me about it (not in a bad way). I just realised its because there is no shadow on the surface plane and the arm disappears into the void in the top left corner also the decapitation gives it a very illusive, eerie quality. Makes me think of greek sculpture and mythology.
Ah Jai, youre an astute fella, exactly what I’ve been thinking about this piece, I had trouble with the background tones, and really, took the easy way out with this piece, thus the floating look!!!!!LOL Glad you spotted the intention of the decapitation as well, cheers mate
