    The truth is he was lost, and I walked up to him and asked if I could take his picture. He let me take two shots, and then we found some water for him and he left.

    I have seen these beautiful birds in the wild,….and everyone I saw was wild,wild,wild.
    How lucky your were to get a stunning shot like this.

  • The first photo I ever took was of a wild pheasant in an alfalfa field. I think I was about seven, maybe ten. I remember crawling on my stomach until I got as close as I could and then took the shot just has that gorgeous bird burst into flight. I don’t know what happened to that shot. But really, with this one, it was a hot day, and I just asked him nicely and talked quietly to him the whole time. It doesn’t always work, of course….Oh, and I remembered to say “please”.
