I’m thinking of using this as my Christmas card for next year. The horse on the left is my mustang mare, Maggie (Maggie Malone). The one on the right is our very old quarter horse mare, Mindy (Melinda Chex). In the background is the neighbor’s gray mare, Lacey.

Taken near Lake Isabella, California, USA, with a Canon EOS 7D, with an 18mm to 200mm Canon lens.

Maggie was adopted from a BLM holding facility, led a diverse and interesting life, and I purchased her from other owners. She bears the BLM freeze brand on the left side of her neck, and always will. She is a loving little horse, and once she gets to know you, is very affectionate. She still shows some her wild horse ways and she is very clever. I am not sure she will ever like horse blankets. She also will probably always hate helicopters and big metal transport trucks.

For more information on wild horses, see The American Wild Horse Preservation Campaign and find out what you can do to preserve this part of the U.S. national heritage.

I posted this one after seeing your beautiful flowers. The snow won’t stick on the ground long, but it’s nice while it lasts!

this is one of those eye catching images, composed so nicely as to invite you for a better look, the only colour is the horses’s blanket

  • Thank you for looking and for the nice comment.
It’s funny how a snow day can hide so many colors.

Beautifully captured! I have enough snowshots recently to keep me in Christmas cards for a lifetime.

  • Thank you. Snow does not stick here long, so I have to get a lot of photos when it makes an appearance. :)
