Join me at the Juried Invitational Exhibition…

I am very excited to exhibit in SoJie 12. SoJie 12 takes its name from the first letters of Solo’s Juried Invitational Exhibition. This month is only the 12th one, ever, and 120 other members of the Solo Exhibition group, besides myself, are represented.

This exhibition is based on a workshop, in which I participated, where member artists translated member photographers’ images to traditional art medium.

Winners of the invitational will be announced on August 31st, when a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded in three categories: photography, traditional art, and a specia…

Prayers, Hugs and Good Thoughts for My Step Daughter

Jess is venturing off to the big city for a national interior design competition.
Her project won for our area. So she stepped it up and competed at the state level, and earned a scholarship. Now she is competing at the national level.
We are all very proud of her. I am glad her grandmother will be there with her to cheer her on.

Give RB Peace a Chance

I understand and respect the reasons people have for leaving RedBubble and the reasons why others stayed. RedBubble has started to make some changes, I want to be part of RedBubble continuing to improve itself and its policies, as well as part of the healing of this community. I believe it is better for world commerce and economics for a company to see the light and change policies than for a company to be forced out of business. I will not be part of any in-fighting here or elsewhere. I will continue to work for change, education, sensitivity and humanity.

If you have comments, it’s probably better to mail me than to post them, as I do not want to trigger any arguments.

Please see Karin Taylor’s forum post.

Author Brett Battles, Little Girl Gone Book Review

Being familiar with Brett Battles’ Jonathan Quinn series, I had high expectations for Little Girl Gone. In his previous books (The Cleaner, The Deceived and Shadow of Betrayal), Battles built suspenseful plots based on intriguing characters, exotic locations and fast-moving action. Little Girl Gone lives up to Battles’ reputation and introduces a new lead character (Logan Harper) who has plenty of potential as the foundation for a new series.

As Little Girl Gone begins, Harper stumbles into an attempted murder, and rescues an old family friend. However, rather than being a simple robbery-gone-wrong, this incident proves to have far-reaching ties to international business and politics. A girl’s life hangs in the balance as Harper tries to find out why thugs would be interested i…

Where have I been?

Now that it’s over, I’m asking myself “where have I been?” and a lot of other questions.

About 14 days ago, we received a call that a dear friend had suffered a massive heart attack. Due to other medical conditions (a severe AAA Aneurysm, age and renal failure), nothing was deemed operable without exceptionally high risk, and she chose to go home so she could die in her own bed with her daughter and a caregiver instead of in a hospital bed hooked up to tubes.

Her daughter is also my friend and like a sister to my husband, so we grabbed some sleeping bags, jumped in the car and headed back to our old hometown to see if we could be of assistance. My friend (the daughter) was already at the point of exhaustion and had not eaten in a couple of days, so the caregiver a…

Something for my friends...

This may be one of those "you had to be there moments, but the most wonderful thing happened the other day. So, I wanted to share it with my RedBubble friends…I’ll share some snapshots…not good ones, but hopefully they will give you the idea. But I’m going to set this up like a little game…find the birdie.

The other morning, I drove over to the Audubon bird sanctuary in my area, and took my camera for a walk. There were hawks around, so most the other birds were hiding. So, I was going to try for a photo of the hawks. My favorite lens is on its way to Canon, so I just had a shorter zoom and I wasn’t getting close to the hawks…just annoying them. So, they flew away.

I started back to the car, and of all things, I found the birds….on my c…
