Waterfall near the Storr, Isle of Skye, Scotland.
It was typical Skye weather – all four seasons in a single day. We had sun, rain, sleet, hail and lots of wind – in other words: perfect photographic weather with ever-changing light. The only problem here was a car load of tourists who wanted to take snaps of each other in various poses right in my field of view. However, they buggered off pretty sharpish when the ladies in the party realised that high heeled shoes (pink, naturally) were not necessarily the best choice of footware for waterlogged, sloppy peat. Words fail me sometimes ….. surprising as that may seem to those who know me …

Sensational shot from front to back Karl
Thanks, Travis .. right place, right time .. for once!

Karl, as ever this is superb, fantastic light and tones. PS good to see you managed to photoshop out the lost pink high heeled shoe!
I could have done with something to delete the bimbo that was wearing them, John. Why oh why is shooting not allowed in this country?

Awesome shot! I’m very impressed with this composition, it is so rare that I see a waterfall in a context like this! So cool! Wonderful light, and I love the dark ominous feel in the background! It must’ve been an awesome day for photography! Great catch!
It was awesome indeed, Murph .. but very frustrating at times, particularly with the problem of rain spots on the lens – which, I need hardly say, are never discovered until you start to process!

now that’s a shot and a half, karl … excellent photography and treatment
Thanks, Carol – for once I was patient enough to wait for the right light!

No comment, how tempting to say ‘let me take that for you, a little right, bit further, more..more’…Splash as they fall in
LOL – I’ll have to try that!

Nice
Thanks, Bruce – much appreciated!

Excellent dynamic range, superb detail and treatment add to a superb composition. Great work Karl:)
Cheers, Morph. It took me about 5 mins to set the tripod up on sloping, slippery, peaty ground running with water and, just as the light was beginning to get interesting, the bimbo in the high heels turned up – one of the trials and tribulations of the photographer!

Feeling Skye-sick now…….. :(
…but oop north in nearly 3 weeks so will look forward to that :)
Hope you had a great time!
Had a marvellous time, Jeanie .. apart from 3 days of torrential driving rain (which everyone said was the worst they’d had for a long time), the weather was pretty good. Already planning next year’s hols – Torridon, I think!
