Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.
This year it was held on 27th March 2010.

I lit this green votive for the hour that the lights were turned off this evening .
As I sat watching the melting wax , I thought the whole thing very symbolic
Green votive for Earth
Flame for the resources we are depleting .

The candle too seemed to have caught my mood and made patterns of its own !!
I discovered that my glass of drinking water was giving out multiple reflection !
The candle too melted naturally and so beautifully even on both sides .

some of the images may be cropped but otherwise are AS IS .

Awesome capture and lighting…….looks great !!

  • Thanks so much Sean …. I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the lack of light in the background made the candle stand out . I guess every shot is a learning experience :)

This is great! The exposure is perfect and I like the way the background is black except for the top of the candle. Instant favorite.

  • thanks ever so much Cindy . the black is all natural too !! It is a low light shot due to it being the Earth Hour moment …so the rest of the room was in total darkness but for the votive candle :)

We don’t normally accept candles without something surround them, but I really love this one so made an exception :)

  • Thanks ever so much Kalaryder ..for your comment and the exception . Like I said to Cindy ..the black is not Photshop ed ..it is all natural due to it being a low light shot .
Thanks again for accepting into the group :)
