Meadows and Mountains
This was taken in Little Lakes Valley, Eastern Sierras, Ca. I have submitted a few different photos from this hike and the lighting was just so intimate that I may just remember that day forever. This is the one furthest down the trail and closest to the mountains in the background. There are many meadows along the trail and they are usually very lush but by summer’s end they start to dry out like this. I thought it made for some nice contrast. You can see a little bit of the trail on the right leading into the pines.

Superb imagery; this is exquisite; I love the term intimate lighting......Perfection!
Justin Mair replied
thank you. i like that term too :) When lighting like this comes along I can’t think of a better way to put it. I had to deal with rain, hail, and lighting on my way up the trail. But it was worth it.

Is this back behind Rock Creek Lake and the Twenty Lakes Basin? I started to hike down that trail the last time I was there, but didn’t get too far. This is GORGEOUS!!!
Justin Mair replied

That’s my dream vacation!!! Last year we were there in August & there were still some lupines out, but I could tell that I’d missed the big show. Maybe next year!!!

THE COLORS ARE VERY PLEASING,ESPECIALLY ON THE MOUNTAINS IN THE BACKGROUND. THEY ARE A NICE CONTRAST TO THE GREENS AND YELLOWS OF THE FOREGROUND. I LIKE IT! YOUR VERY LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO SPEND TIME IN SUCH BEAUTIFUL LOCATIONS. I LIVED IN OAKHURST FOR A YEAR AND MISS IT VERY MUCH.
Psyche
Did you do anything to the contrast it looks like it came out of the Wizard of OZ. Totally cool!
Justin Mair replied
I was trying to emulate the kind of saturation that fuji velvia film gives. I do most of my color balance/contrast editting in the RAW converter.
