I am a South African living in the USA but will always have very close ties with my country of birth. Although I have been fortunate to travel extensively, I instinctively long for the heartbeat of Africa.
Being able to paint and express my own view is exhilarating although I always admire artists with that fine touch, the IT, that makes you an exceptional artist. Recently such an artist, Avril Brand inspired me to take my artwork a step further, to showcase it and use it to help others. We initiated a project to help displaced Afrikaners find a way out of their dire circumstances and find sustainable solutions. Urgent intervention and restoration of people have become a priority in my life because the world and society that we created are only for the strong and wealthy. So many people are unable to cope with the pressures that we are subjecting ourselves to. We have come full circle, only the strong are able to survive.
Wildlife and flowers will always be my passion, as it as part of me as my family and pets. Being a child of Africa means that it is part of your genes, I suppose. Wildlife conservation will always be a passion as will the campaign against cruelty to animals. We have a responsibility as stewards of this earth, unless we take up that responsibility we are heading for disaster and cheating our children and grandchildren out of the most miraculous creation, called Earth.
