About an octopus who has developed a suit so that he may walk with the humans. A piece to fulfill my curiosity with octopuses and old looking diving helmets. The character’s odd infatuation with the human race mirrors my own with his species. Completed in 2008.

oh i loooove this! i want the whole story!

why does he want to walk with humans? whats so great about them? what could he possibly desire on land so much that he wishes to leave his weightless watery world?

  • Lloyd Harvey replied

Maybe he was bullied buy squids? I haven’t rounded it off fully but I plan on selling the rights to Pixar. If they’d take it that is.

You have your vey own distinctive style Lloyd which is very attractive. I like your sense of humour too. I hope his other three tenticles are in his helmet otherwise he would be a Pentapus.

  • Lloyd Harvey replied

Thanks very much Brian! Your comments on my style and humor are greatly welcomed! The other 3 tentalces are inside the suit, operating the levers to move the thing.

The thought of it kind of creepy; but maybe possible. Octopus are actually very intelligent creatures. A friend told me that in the laboratories, they unlock their tanks and snatch the fishes from the other tanks; eat them and then lock themselves back into their tanks. Because of that people had a long time figuring out why the fishes disappeared.

  • Lloyd Harvey replied

LOL! How very interesting and extremely crafty of them!

When I first saw you art, it reminded me of the artwork from the late 70’s in heavy metal magazine (not the music mag, the other one). Works from artists like Moebius, Corben, or Suydam. Their stuff is amazing. Your Octopus dood has the same flavor.

  • Lloyd Harvey replied

Oh right, I see that makes more sense now. I will look into it…cheers!

What is it about octopuses that’s so fascinating…I love this. I love the idea of him walking around trying to figure us out, it must be quite lonely for him?

  • Lloyd Harvey replied

Nah, he wouldn’t be lonely, he’d love it here. So much to see and do, an octopus could really have some fun up on land.

  • Louise. C. Thomas
