Some fighters portray very aggressive and bravado like behavior. For just a small moment, the camera has captured a moment that I think portrays this fighter without bravado and perhaps in some sense, letting his ‘guard’ down.
About 15 minutes later, during his bout, the fighter dropped his guard (in a more literal sense) and was KO’ed.
So often during a fight you hear the words “Guard Up!” shouted. This sentiment is often carried out in everday life as well. We are conditioned throughout life that if we “drop our guard” we are going to get hurt.
Various methods of protection help to cope with doubts & fears yet it can leave an individual without really addressing the source of the fear… just covering or ignoring it.
I guess what Im whaffling at is that sometimes walls of protection can feel real hard to break down. Realising it is the first step, breaking them down is where the hard works starts.
