Through a childs eyes
Inspired by my son… a never ending source of insight .
—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-——
Good night my son, now it’s time for bed.
It has been along day and your book has been read.
Yes, I know it is dark, but you’ve nothing to fear
There is nothing about it’s just you and me here.
That thing that you’re feeling, some know it as dread.
It’s not at all real. It’s just thoughts in your head.
Now stop; don’t be silly, my patience runs short.
I’ll waste no more time, not a moments more thought.
Then I leave the room and my mind starts to race,
As it hits me hard, like a strike to the face.
If the answers so simple, the solution so clear,
Why is it I seem to battle my fear?

Brilliant image and wonderful reflections. So many adults/parents carry fear but have blocked it from their awareness. As such often the demons of the night in their child’s minds and bodies is the fear of the parents that is not being transparently communicated.
Matt Bottos replied
Thanks Tony.. Overcoming fear can seem like such a huge task that at times blocking it seems like the easy way out… I’m learning that it is not the case.

Scary concept and excellent execution, I am sure we have all been there before as a child in bed or even on a dark night. His expression is spot on as is the treatment you have given the image. The shadow makes me think of the creepy shadows in Nosferatu. This is so excellent Matt!!
Matt Bottos replied
Thanks Ben… I’m chuffed at the Nosferatu comparison :)

Superb! Perhaps because fear is real? Inside at least!
Matt Bottos replied
Very valid point. I think its a bloke thing that we are bought up with from an early age in that if it’s emotional or something not tangible it should not bother you. I guess the fact is that it is very real from a non physical perspective. Thanks for the comment… Ill go think on it some more now :)

This picture tells that you know a childs mind. That is not possible without retaining a part of who we were as kids. I am reminded of my childhood by this picture, and believe will be the same for everyone. Some pictures deserve more than just good credits. Bravo Matt.
Matt Bottos replied
Uttiya, thanks so much for the insightful comment… really appreciate it :) I think sometimes we have so much capacity to learn a great deal at a young age but somehow during life & its complications things can go a bit hay-wire. When I look at my kids I can almost see a replay of my life which can at times be a scary as all hell for me! I only hope I can spark enough interest for them to think about things a little deeper than what brand of sneakers they want for Christmas.
