A Fighters Faith

A Fighters Faith

For me, boxing is a reflection on how we handle ourselves in everyday life. A fighter can only advance by scoring points if he has faith in himself. At any point when a boxer attacks he leaves himself open to a counter-attack. He can stand with a rock solid defense and be safe or he can attack and risk an opening for a counter attack.
As in the ring, we must have faith, take a risk, trust our training/instinct and believe in ourselves.

A Fighters Faith belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Gods and Goddesses, Layered with Texture, Sports For All from Our Gym, Sports Photography, The Healing Journey and Who Needs Color For Beauty? - Black & White Art At Its Best

Powerful, intense… did you lighten this up? is this the same shot as before… Great shot and set up!

  • Matt Bottos replied

Thanks Jeff, This is a different shot to the other. I removed the other one as it was too similar to this one. I think this has more of a “street” vibe to it (jeans instead of the boxing shorts)

Fantastic image and wonderfully creative words. The only thing I would question is the ko. I think so many of us in life have been conditioned to think about results and winning. To me winning in boxing or anything else is just being the best you can be and also enjoying the relationship.

  • Matt Bottos replied

Thanks Tony! In regards to the KO, I guess it depends on how you see the analogy. It could be something as simple as being successful which doesn’t necessarily mean ‘winning’. I’ve seen guys get knocked about for a few rounds but still stand their ground. It’s always good to see these guys get a pat on the back afterwards. In a positive environment they still come out feeling like champs!

This is just really good! I think everyone else has said what I wanted to say. My eyes are drawn back and forth between the pin sharp fists and the torso. Great depth of field, composition, framing and shape. I think this might be my favourite of yours, the image says so much.

Well done! This is sure to be one of my favorites! Few people can show emotion and passion in just hands alone and yet you did it. The pose and lighting are great and even without a face you can see a boxer and know whats behind the hands. Again, well done!!!!

Id love to draw this but I dont dare. I am a fraid your work is beign a habit for me. Your work compliments what i do. Yet an artist such as myself is nothing without someone like you.

Thanks so much David. Sometimes doubt in my works feels so bad that at times I struggle with uploading it. I really appreciate your comment… especially coming from someone that inspires me as much as you do.
