Al this is A Gamble Quail, I am pretty sure, okay maybe not look…. HERE maybe the difference is the male, and female thing :)…. BEAUTIFUL capture, and a fave!! Carolyn

Lol, I wouldn’t put any money on it, Al, you’d be sure to lose it but for some reason, I immediately thought of a quail. Whatever it is, it’s a pretty little bird and you’ve captured it very nicely.

Hi Vickie! I found some info on it and it’s a California Quail but in the info it said they hybridise with the Gamble Quail, whatever that means. LOL. Thanks a lot Mate.

Hi Lori! You are correct. It is a California Quail. I found it in my bird info book. It was introduced to Australia but I don’t know when.
I’m stumped.. looked into the What is That Bird? book.. the body is of a quail, but that little feather on top of it’s head.. doesn’t look like any of the pics… hope Sharon’s cousin knows what it is… I’m very curious… I’ll keep looking ….
