Designed by the team at Gloster aircraft and first flown in 1943, the Meteor was in service at the end of the second world war, and used mainly in ground attack. The last operational flight of a Meteor was in 1961, although target towing examples remained in use by the RAF until the ’90s.
The NF11 was delivered to No. 29 Squadron in 1951 and I remember often seeing them exercise when I was a schoolboy. This was taken at the 2008 Biggin Hill air show.
