Sydney Jo Jackson
Another take with beautiful model, singer and dancer Sydney Jo Jackson, who was a real pleasure to work with. The delightful Nicola Hamilton came over to do the make up at very short notice.
Part of the brief was to produce some B/W shots, and as I was after a low key effect with smooth tones, I rigged a black tent arrangement to stop light bouncing around the room and give maximum density to the shadow areas.

My ‘home studio’ and black tent arrangement is a bit cramped for this type of shot, but I got more or less what I had in mind, particularly with the lighting. Your appreciation is appreciated! Thank you Alistair.

Von McKnelly
I find the reality of both her expression and her dancers feet is what makes this image work so well.
John Hooton replied
You are very kind Von, there is only so much you can do in a black tent!
Maxoperandi
Superb Black and White image…so my style…I use a lot of black bounce in my work!
John Hooton replied
Thank you Max. I learnt the technique from Barry Lategan when I worked as an assistant at the same studio in the sixties. I loved the way you could paint black outlines on arms and faces.
