Fabulous image of my favourite aircraft John, and the sky and the lighting is fantastic. Regards, Steve
John Hooton replied
I think it is still the most graceful aircraft ever flown. Thanks for commenting Steve.
Edward Denyer
Excellently focused aeroplane and taken against the wonderful sky – spitfires are so dramamtic – Ted
John Hooton replied
I had a little bit of help from CS3 for the sky, but I think she deserves it. Thanks for the comment Ted.
Kaimarie

John Hooton replied

Beautiful and wonderful processing!! XX.. :)
John Hooton replied
Thank you Elaine. Yep, with a bit of help from PS I got the shot I really would have liked to have taken! xx
Iain Mavin
She may be “an old girl ” but she still has that magic all thats missing is that merlin growl
John Hooton replied
Yes, 68 years old and still got her looks! I agree, the sound of that engine is truly emotional. :-))
LjMaxx
Wonderful sky for this planes bkdrp.. angle too.. Awesome capture…
John Hooton replied
Thanks LJ. Still revered by pilots everywhere.

Beautiful, image, John. Another WWII Classic!!
John Hooton replied
Thanks John. These air shows are a bit like a sortie – if you come back with a couple of decent shots from a lot of ‘bullets’, you have done really well!
john403
You hit the nail directly on the head, my friend. I took over three-hundred photos at this years air show. Of those I may keep less than fifty. You have to love digital. I could never afford to do that with film. And as far as the old gal being 68 years old…I hope I look that good at 68 LOL!
BJChambers
This is a beautiful shot.
John Hooton replied
Thank you very much BJ.

Great shot of the Spit. Have you tried it in B/W?
John Hooton replied
Thanks Neil, I might try the B/W sometime.
James Hennman
Fantastic!
John Hooton replied
Thanks James!

Another beautiful shot of the most beautiful plane ever built. She just gets better with age, doesn’t she? :)
John Hooton
Yup, R,J. Mitchell must have been something of an artist as well as a great aeronautical engineer. :-))
Martin E. Morris

maxy
This is stunning!!! The sky is so beautiful…. Huge congratulations on your feature! Beautifully done – well deserved!
John Hooton replied
Thank you Maxy. One would be very unlikely to capture a shot like this in real life of course, so I did have a little help from Photoshop! :-))
David McMahon
Lovely shot. I’m off to get some shots of a Spit in a couple of weeks.
John Hooton replied
Thanks David, take my advice – cheat!
joyousmoon

Thank you Pamela. Done being the operative word in this case!
David Clarke
Fabulous shot, John; that sky complements the aircraft so well!
John Hooton replied
It should do, it was very carefully chosen! Glad you like the combination.
Akkra
Instant fave John! This is a beautiful shot with the colours in that sky and the way the light reflects off the top of the Spitfire. It looks like it could be a poster from a war movie. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous… I quite like it :o)
John Hooton replied
Thanks Akkra. The reflected light needs to be ‘pinked up’ a bit. When I get a little more experienced in PS I’ll have a go!
