Margaret Shark
I voted for this for photogenic women. She has great bone structure, her eyes are outstanding, her coloring is wonderful, and her hair is noteworthy. You captured it perfectly. All in all, she is a beautiful model and had a competent, talented photographer.
John Hooton replied
Thank you Margaret, you are very generous. Lucy is a great girl to work with. I often try to get that bit extra by asking girls to think of something they really like, positive. I am after that message in the eyes. It remains their secret of course, but seems to have worked here. :-))

Congratulations! Your work was voted the most popular entry in a First Things Group challenge.

This is beautiful, the skin tones and detail are so good!!
John Hooton replied 15 days ago
Thanks Ben. A 105mm micro Nikkor helps. It is an ideal perspective on a full frame and a very sharp lens!

i always wanted to know about making the skin soft and pretty for my senior portraits of the girls. maybe one day you can give a tutorial. i use photoshop cs3 i know just a little on photoshop teaching my self in books and youtube. i love photography since i could walk and art so im wishing i could be your shadow right now.
John Hooton replied 15 days ago
Hi Mandi, a good skin to start with obviosly helps, but careful makeup foundation does too. Most of my beauty retouching is of the dodge and burn variety, but beauty retouching would make a great article. These are fairly small (click to enlarge) but here are a few beauty ‘before and after’ retouched pictures.
