Artist's Description

Kali Yantra

…Said to have been born from the brow of the goddess Durga during a battle between gods and demons, Kali is one of the most fervently worshipped deities in the tantric pantheon. She is often portrayed as being of terrifying aspect, brandishing a sword in one hand and holding a skull in the other. Yet, though such imagery suggests death and destruction, it also implies their opposite: creation and life. At the centre of the Yantra, Kali is the creative force of the world, the embodiment of the ceaseless cycles of destruction and renewal which transcend the everyday world of facile appearance. Through meditation with the aid of the Kali mandala-yantra the neophyte will pierce through to a truer reality…..
