This is the small village of Quillan, in the South of France, with the fast -flowing River Aude, now resurrected as a thriving centre for water sports at world class level. Quillan is in the Aude, one of the five departments of the Languedoc Roussillon region. It lies roughly mid-way between Carcassonne and Perpignan on the D118 road. To the left, roughly seven kilometres away, lies the even smaller village of Campagne sur Aude.

Peter Reid retired from teaching in 2002 and returned to university, achieving MA photography. Since then he has traveled throughout Europe researching on two fronts; The photographer’s Human Rights and Gothic Architecture. He holds Associate membership of the Royal Photographic Society and is a past member of The Royal Musical Society. In 2012 he was successful at ABRSM grade 3 Piano, and now grade 4 beckons.
