Get out of the car
stretch your legs
take a deep breath
smell pine and sage
trees like sentinals
line the river banks
swaying and bowing
as the wind makes them dance
Magpies float on currents
Blue Jays twitter with glee
go into the woods
there’s so much to see
A frozen clump of roots
forms an ice cave on the shore;
turn around… look here…
wonderous things instore
Rainbows dance between the stones
as half-frozen water drops rise and fall
Yellow Finch high up in the tree
A storm is coming
snow blowing
Wind cold as can be
A break in the clouds
The sun reappears
Quick now, snap the waterfall
Ok follow me
Winter slowly releases her grip
small sprouts of green poke up
through patches of white
Go into the woods
be still. be quiet
Thank God for awhile
you^ll be so glad you did it

Simply beautiful Shilo…I love the bush myself – it always makes me feel closer to God. You described it so well here, I felt like I was taking a walk through the woods with you. Lovely writing from the heart.

This poem makes one feel like they are there. Standing in the woods listening to the twitters. I love it. thank you for such visions.
