as she comes into the light
of this brand new day,
she is wearing pastel shades
of blue/pink/white & grey
her escort is attired
in the latest greens
of breathe easy bamboo
new tree-shoots and leaves.
she is going to be
center stage you know
being talked about
and learned about
with showings on how to grow
she will be hailed
in poems
lifted up in speeches
praised by hippies
and dirt loving tree huggers
[proud to say I am one]
but will she be remembered
beyond this day or even the week
will she stand a fighting chance
before next year when we meet
it is earth day
let it show
not one day or three
but always
let it show
let the earth see and feel
that we care, we cry, we hope
for her
not for one day or three
but each day let it show
