lunar occultation
1.12.2008 (My sons Birthday)
A very rare event happened this evening where the Moon, Jupiter and Venus were in close conjunction.
In order to bring out the detail in the “Dark Side” I had to blow out the “Light” side.
Still works though.
In the extremely Pixely zoomed in image below, you can clearly see Jupiters four Largest Moons, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto

I looked at this lot last night and wished I knew how to take the pictures…..
Now I know I don’t need to….I just let you do it for us all! You sure did a fantastic job here Michael…...I love to see these amazing sights. My father (a dairy farmer who gets up at 4am every morning) always talks about Jupiter’s many moons that he sees and now I know what he was talking about!!!

Great shot! I was kicking myself when I looked up last night. I left my camera at home and was in a meeting. I watched it go below the horizon as I was on my way home. You captured it very well.
