Our life together started off like a quilt…. clean and bright, seams tightly stitched together. Colors bright and fun.
As the years passed and trials came, the quilt got stained and started to fade.
More time passed and we became complacent. The seams of the quilt became weak and began to split from one another… lives taking different directions.
We’ve tried to patch the holes in the quilt through the years, but no matter how many times we sewed on a patch another hole would wear through. Somethings can’t be repaired.
Now, we’ve come to the point where we’re tired and bored and detached. The quilt has become frayed and tattered , worn thin by times, both good and bad.
The quilt can no longer be used. Its usefulness has gone.
Its time to gently fold it up and put the quilt quietly away.
Love doesn’t always last forever.
This just spilled out of me this morning while I was listening to a song about the grass being greener on the other side.Sometimes starting over is better than becoming faded and mildewed and tattered….letting precious time pass by and not experiencing everything life has to offer. There’s a time for everything and I believe that there comes a time sometimes when we need to put the quilt away and start a new one.
