This safe is probably left over from when this abandoned stately home was owned by one of the most renowned ship builders in the town. It looks like some amateur safe cracker has had a go at getting in by collecting all the keys they found laying about the premises and trying them in it.

    Surely the shipbuilder was smart enough to clean out his
    safe before he abandoned his home. I’m guessing it’s empty.

    Vonney, we are talking about people who break into places to cause damage and to burn them, they are not exactly the most intelligent of creatures. Of course it will be empty, but hey if they amused themselves for two hours scavenging keys and trying them, at least it is two hours they were not damaging the place.
