Late night shards.

I’m awakened by my own voice’s beckoning
“Come with me, where we can be free”
I’m tugged from sleep into a quiet stumble
And down the hall I hear
The buzzing of a television and the light on
It glows blue and sears the white television sound
I’m on the screen again; like most nights

I’m locked in a box called Trixy
I named her when she gave me
Late night pleasure from obscene German porn
And a better sleep than most

I’m sitting on this couch, crusted over with sex
And blisted arms from cigarettes
I’m on the screen again but it isn’t me
I never look that good or thin
I’ve always been pudgy and lacking in hygiene

I’m turning off the buzz and wishing Trixy goodnight
She’s such a good girl, I’d be lost without her
I butt out my last cigarette and throw the packet in the bin
Take the trash out and clean the sink

I’ll go shopping tomorrow I think
There’s nothing in the cupboard except Spam
Dated 1/2/99, maybe it’s still alright
The fridge holds milk and half eaten pizza

I’m down the hall and in my bed, it smells of sex
Like everything
I’ll wash the sheets tomorrow
Get these stains out, and the smell

Dozing in a sex ridden pit
I yawn once and roll onto my side
Tomorrow I’ll check what money I have
Maybe I’ll join the gym

Maybe tomorrow things will be better

I fluff my pillows, set back my head
Sigh hard and lick the fuzz on my teeth
The bedside clock blinks 3:33
How odd, I think

And fall asleep.

Late night shards.

Artist's Description

I wrote this piece about 4 years ago, it’s a bit dark and strange, I think I based it on song lyrics but I still enjoy reading this.
