Taken in my backyard on the 13th of October, 2009. I’m really not sure what type of beetle/bug this is so if anyone could fill me in that would be fantastic!

Canon 400D and 100mm macro.

ISO: 400
Aperture: 10

Nice capture Shelley. According to my book “The Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Insects and Spiders” – my bible ;-) This is a Cottonwood Twig Borer. Well done!

  • Thank you! I’m not sure if this species would be common to Australia though? That’s where I live and captured this little critter. I definitely need to get an insect bible! Cheers for your help Francine! :)
