Canyon Spirit Guardian
As we traveled through the National Park to view the Grand Canyon, there were signs everywhere warning of the extreme fire danger. Warnings all over the place to campers that campfires where prohibited due to wildfire danger. Apparently, a group of campers thought the warnings did not apply to them. They started and left a campfire that spread into a 2,000 acre wildfire.
Our views of the canyon were filled with smoke. It took hundreds of firefighters and 3 days to get the fire under control. I was so saddened by the stupidity and carelessness of others and wondered if there were some Spirit Guardian watching over this gift of creation. Thus, the inspiration for this painting.
