Many of us waste so much time, waiting for a perfect time to be happy, Christmas is a classic example. We spend so much time , and effort , and money in the effort to create a perfect day. For the so called lucky that is what they will create, for others it will be a day filled with disappointment. Why do you think that is?

Maybe it is is because we are spending so much time on amassing perfect ‘things’, that we have forgotten about ourselves! Are you decorating your tree, and forgetting to decorate yourself? Are you creating a wonderful meal for family, and friends, when you constantly forget to eat , or when you do it is always rushed, and lacking in nutrition? Do you send everybody off for an after lunch nap, whilst not allowing yourself any respite? If you are constantly giving to others whilst ignoring your own needs, you will begin to feel resentment. That certainly does not lead to happiness!

My advice to you this christmas is what ever you do, where ever you are, or whomever you spend your time with, do it because you choose to. Try to take the ‘should’ out of christmas, and fill it with choice, and love instead! See what a difference that makes, simple but powerful. Love yourself, remember it is your christmas too. It is said that it is better to give than receive, and I am not denying that, note that it does not say that you must exclude yourself!
Be kind to yourself, love yourself, and that will take the pressure off!
