Kinderdijk at dusk
Kinderdijk is now a world heritage site south of Rotterdam, this is my most favourite place from my travels to date. I have been there during all weathers and seasons and it very seldom appears the same on consecutive visits due to the weather. My one regret is not getting to skate on the canals around the windmills, winters were never cold enough during my time in Holland. This is a mid summer twilight shot taken at 22.30pm local time after which I had a 1.5 hour drive home and up at 4.45am to be in work for 5.30 am the next morning, what one does to take a photo!! Het mooieste plaats in de wereld vor mij!!
Kinderdijk at dusk belongs to the following groups:

Hello, g’day and bonjour to Aspire2, Andrew, Eos20 and Micmac respectively, thanks for all of your comments. Yes it’s always worth it when you can bag a good shot, the photo was taken pre-digital so there was the extra anxieties and apprehensions waiting for the roll to come back from the processors (1 thing I love about digital is the instant accessment of the photo taken) – Aspire2 I’m originally from Dunboyne and a Meathman but might change my colours if Louth pull up their socks next year!!!

Thanks again Peter, yes it was worth it and it makes up for the numerous times I was there for sun upsdowns when the sky was one thick blanket of cloud or it just lashed with rain, I thought I hadn’t left Ireland!

Absolutely gorgeous Shay, I wouldnt mind having less than five hours sleep, to get rewarded with a shot like this. Excellent.

Absolutely worth all that effort you went through, Shay. In spite of the typical Dutch weather (That’s why my father brought us to Australia!) it certainly makes me want to go and have a look.
If I’ve ever been there, as a child, I cannot remember it but heard about the Kinderdijk so often, it feels familiar.
Makes me think about Rembrandt growing up in one of these (windmills).
Gouda’s town hall shall remain my first choice for sentimental reasons but no wonder the Kinderdijk is now a world heritage site.
Great picture!!!

Bedankt Jonathon en Ozcloggie
Ozcloggie je bent juist, het stadhuis van Gouda is een mooie plaats, Ik heb daar bezoekt maar helaas ik heb het kaas markt niet gezien!.
Yes Gouda Stadhuis is the nicest building in all of Holland that I have visited, I have a few photos of it.
