Profile

My name is Charnell White.

Aboriginal – The culture that flows with PRIDE through my viens. I grew up respecting my elders and hanging on to their every word as they spoke about the ancestors, the land and each and every one of our people.
My mother informed me that I am a proud mix of 3 different aboriginal tribes and they are Bidjara (on my Great Grandfathers side), Garingbal and Gungalu (on my Great Grandmothers side). My grandfathers’ country extends to the ranges of the Carnarvon Gorge, out past Augathella and my grandmothers’ country is the Carnarvon Gorge region and further.
I love the aboriginal artwork, it is always full of colour and symbols.
Some have to look hard to see the beauty in art.
But for those who truely believe they are artists, can see the beauty in everything and know how to portray it so that it becomes easier for others to see.
I inherited my love of art from my mother (a.k.a Bidjara). Mum taught me never to judge someone or something by its cover and from using that i myself have begun to see the beauty in things that i would never have seen otherwise.
My mothers artist name, Bidjara dervives from my Great Grandfather’s clan. As the Senior Bidjara Elder he gave mum permission to use the clan name as well as their totem, the possum. Combined together they express strength(Bidjara) and watchful (possum).
As you can see, my mother plays a HUGE part in my artisitc life, i look to her for inspiration as she guides me through my stages of learning before i can step out into the Art World on my own.
My family is the most important thing in my life.
Next would be my boyfriend Jesse & my girlfriends [[Ginny, Ursula-jean, Wordly, T’lea]].
I hope to be one of the many people out there trying to open the world’s eyes to Mother Nature’s Beauty and the beauty of my culture.
