Crystal Falls, Dorrigo National Park by

Probably the most well-known falls in the Dorrigo National Park NSW. The walk to Crystal Shower Falls might be one of the shortest waterfall walks, and you can go behind the waterfall itself. Lush rainforest towers above you on the walk to the falls and you might hear the call of rainforest birds.

Once you reach the falls, a suspension bridge leads to a short side track that will take you behind the waterfall into a rocky cavern.

To get to Crystal Shower Falls you’ll need to take the first part of the Satinbird stroll and then join the Wonga walk, leaving from The Glade picnic area (Which is about 500m up the track from the main carpark at the information centre).

If you are feeling energetic and want to explore the rainforest more you can carry on walking the Wonga walk, which is a total of 5.8km loop from the information centre. Interpretive signs guide you all the way.

Just a proud Aussie, showing my country.

Lovely shot Sharron, more water than when I took mine from the very same spot.
It is a great walk but if it is hot don’t forget to take some water with you it is even hotter through the rainforest.
    Congratulations on your feature.

  • Thank you Rita. Living reasonably close I can choose times when I think it might be good to go. Too much water can be as bad as too little. And yes, even in winter it is important to carry plenty of water, it’s quite warm and humid down at the bottom all year round.

I enjoyed your reply Sharron, how lucky are you to live so close. I live in a rural area and no waterfalls that amount to something like Crystal Falls. We have been twice and we will be back when the opportunity arises.

  • When you come back, give me a shout, we can meet up. I can show you some of my other favourite places :)

Oh I would love to take you up on that Sharon! With all the rain you have in your area we have never been there. Come to think of it I wouldn’t like to be there when it floods. Thanks for the offer. Rita :)
