A composite of 3 images ~ Postcard, Photos x2….

Tomorrow – April 25th is ANZAC Day ~ 2010
This image is a composite of 3 images
My late father-in-law – an obligatory post card
mailed from his P.O.W Camp to his family back home – and a sprig of Rosemary for Rememberance.
Tomorrow we will pause – and take time reflect on those who through their love of their
country – gave their lives to give us the freedom that we enjoy today

A New Life Begins For Us
With Every Second.
Let Us Go Forward Joyously
To Meet It.
We Must Press On,
Whether We Will Or No,
And We Shall Walk Better
With Our Eyes Before Us
Than With Them Cast Behind.

Lovely tribute Sharon! Such a handsome man! Thanks for sharing. My grandfather was wounded at Gallipoli – I wouldn’t be here today if he hadn’t survived. Makes you think! x :o)

  • He was a handsome man Brandie – I was lucky to marry his son…Lol
And I understand what you say about your grandfather…if the ones that returned didn’t, we would not know life as we do! We are blessed!

Beautiful Sharon…I wonder if he was with my Uncle who was over there…so many were PW.

  • There were so many POW’s Lorraine – and each with their own memories… sadly there wasn’t the counselling services available back then, like we have now…many returned soldiers finished their lives out living in a torment we cannot comprehend!

Powerful image you have created sharon!! Beautiful tribute to true hero.

  • There were many heros Jennifer – babes heading off into an unknown and incomprehensible situation in lands so foreign to them… we cannot even begin to imagine the experiences they faced…

I have heard the terrible stories of how the Japanese treated their prisoners. My father served in the Navy in WWII. I pray that all lost are resting in the arms of God now. This is a very moving picture. xoxoxo

  • My F.I. L spoke very little of the challenges he, and other POW’s endured – but there were times of evidence of the terrible memories he lived with.
Thankyou Lori for your thoughtful comment and the fav :o))
