This photo was taken summer 2010, as my young son, Gage, and I were waiting for an older sibling to finish up an appointment. Gage loves trains and train tracks, so we always go for a walk during these doctor visits. The tracks lead to Train engines, cars, and cabooses, just where they park them. Also to a concrete plant with big trucks and tall conveyor belts, and NOISE, and on down to a HUGE slab of concrete where an old factory used to be long ago. The boys in town call it “THE FOUNDATION” and they all go there to skateboard, so we take our usual trip to Foundation and watch the skateboarders do their thing.
Gage is THE BEST child at that age by far out of the three. He’s smart, been around mostly adults and older kids til he went to school so he had quite a vocabulary, and some older interests. He is never mean or aggressive, never throws tantrums, is very well-mannered, a bit shy, always smiling, and is his father’s shadow like no other child we’ve had. This kid I think wants TO BE his dad. Gage and I are close, but when he gets up in the morning, he gets up looking for “Daddy” as he’s afraid he’s missing some manly activity.
He makes great grades, is never in trouble at school or on the bus, I just can’t say enough good things about this young man of mine of 6 years. He’s a typical kid, but does have a maturity most kids don’t because of his adult influences and siblings were 10 years older than he.
He was not planned but was a complete surprise, and one of the best surprises of my life. He is also quite adorable, and hard not to kiss on a lot!
Whatever powerful force of energy gave me this little boy, I am so very grateful for him, and I’m so proud thus far of the complete little joyous package that he is! He’s also terribly “sweet”, and has been known to hold the doors open for the girls at school he thinks are “pretty.” : ) He IS the baby and I am well aware that when I have to ‘give him up’ to another woman in marriage, it’s going to be a tearful day for mom.
I DEDICATE THIS WORK TO OUR SONS, WHO WILL ONE DAY PROBABLY CARRY THE HEAVIEST BURDEN IN CARING FOR HIS FAMILY- MAY THEY BE TAUGHT WELL AND PREPARED BY PARENTS WHO LOVE THEM, AND MAY THEY BE BLESSED WITH PROSPERITY AND HAPPINESS! I sure do love this little cutter. : )
