These words are taken from a dramatic poem written by Byron called Manfred. Lord Byron’s work Manfred inspired many great musicians – Robert Schumann in 1852, in a composition entitled Manfred – Pyotr Tchaikovsky in his Manfred Symphony, Op.1885, as well as by Carl Reinecke. How could Byron’s work not inspire us, today?
