Unanswered Memories And Dreams
I really ought to say a great deal more, or a great deal less. It is an improvisation, like everything I am relating here. It is born of the moment. ... The work is the expression of my inner development; for commitment to the contents of the unconscious forms the man and produces his transformations. My works can be regarded as stations along my life’s way…...
Words by Jung
Jung experienced a psychotic phase in his life and during this time became immersed in the world of the dead, which lead him to write Seven Sermons of the Dead under the name of second century Gnostic writer, Basilides, which was published in 1916.
I dedicated this painting to Carl Gustav Jung who is helping me answer the memories and ongoing dreams.

Memories and ongoing dreams, some are answered, and some are not. It will always be this way I suppose…nice work Sophie!

Mark, I find your work very inspiring; the content is full of symbolism and wonderful facets. We sometimes need to look at what we have created and realise that we are communicating. Dreams reveal so much if we are willing to take the time to comprehend them. Your work reveals a great deal to me, that’s why I like to come and look at it!Sx

Did years of Jungian dreamwork…your painting and narrative compliment the process beautifully!
Each must ask for the dreams to come to reveal and integrate…something I refer to as “intentionality”!
I admire how elegantly and sincerely you express yourself and how you dedicate yourself to your path, Sophie.
With respect and adoration,
Mariam

Brilliant work, Sophie!
A few years back I took a course with a Jungian professor on Jung’s dream work…your painting is much lovelier and more inspriring than that dry dust of a professor!!! Guess i use Astrology (as did Jung with his patients) for much the same delving into the unconscious and it does ‘color’ much of my artwork.

a feeling of different dimensions overlapping. also the rustic weathered look of the space at the left gives this an earthy quality along with the spiritual feeling.
